Following the Project Truth demonstrations and the reactions it raised, Laney College faculty organized an event for Planned Parenthood in the school’s cafeteria, in order to show their appreciation for what this organization has been offering to our society.
This appreciation was reflected in a Laney student’s article, “How Planned Parenthood Saved My Life” published, a few weeks ago in San Francisco Chronicle and Laney Tower respectively.
As a result, the sum of twenty seven hundred and twenty dollars was donated to Planned Parenthood.
As machine technology chair and professor Luis Quindlen pointed out, “there cannot be a discussion without having both sides presented.” He explained further, “this initiative was their rhetoric against Project Truth, a rhetoric that demonstrated that actions could be the best response.”
English professor Eleni Economides Gastis was also there to endorse the event and pointed out the importance of Planned Parenthood, as well as the importance of the students’ awareness on the issues advocated by Planned Parenthood.
The event was accompanied with dancing and other artistic activities.
