Transfer Day offers direction to higher degrees

For many Laney is a stepping-stone to transferring to a four-year college. While some students might be just starting to accumulate the necessary credits to transfer, others are at the end of their journey to complete the requirements to apply to the school of their choice.
Both share the need to be prepared to choose the best school for their needs, and to complete an application process in an organized and efficient manner. On Tuesday, October 14 from 10 A.M.-1:00 P.M. Laney will be holding a Transfer Day on the Quad with over 40 accredited colleges and universities.
Laney Tower spoke with Kathy Ma, the interim head of the transfer center, who has organized the event since 2011. She spoke with enthusiasm about the «great opportunity» for students to speak to representatives from public, private, and out-of-state colleges. Ma explained that even if a student is just “thinking of transferring,” they should attend and bring transcripts and questions for the reps.
Student Mikal Hill is one these student who is thinking about SF State or UC Berkeley in order to study Kinesiology and informed the Tower he didn’t know about the Oct 14th Transfer Day on the Quad but was very interested in the information that would be available.
For a list of the participating college and universities who will be participating in Laney College Transfer Day and information on transferring go to http://www.laney.edu/wp/transfer/, or visit the transfer center on the 2nd floor of the administration building on the Laney campus.
