Letters to the Editor — Calendar needed!

Editor — I would appreciate an addition to the Laney Tower, a calendar of coming events.
Too often the Tower reports on events that have already happened, and I feel badly about having missed them.
It would be easy enough to have the departments who host these events, like Music, Drama and Dance report a schedule of upcoming events. I would be there, and I know others would be interested as well. We have stellar faculty in all of these departments, and are actually well known in the community for our dance and theatre productions. The music events, even little concerts for the students but open to the public, are high quality.
I’ve only known about some music concerts because some of my fellow students were in the programs. Otherwise, I’d have missed them. Laney is a community rich in culture. And today I walked past a small theatre company on Broadway that has held productions of David Hare plays and local noteworthy talent.
I know that small companies and art galleries and musicians would be happy to have more free advertising. The calendar could be part of the front or back page. We would be a community of learners all the richer for it.

    About the Contributor
In the fall of 2019, The Laney Tower rebranded as The Citizen and launched a new website. These stories were ported over from the old Laney Tower website, but byline metadata was lost in the port. However, many of these stories credit the authors in the text of the story. Some articles may also suffer from formatting issues. Future archival efforts may fix these issues.
