Re-Create Art Contest And Traveling Exhibition

Saturday, November 21, is the deadline for Oakland students to submit artwork for the annual Re-Create Art Contest and Traveling Exhibition. Oakland students are encouraged to use discarded materials to create artwork, win great prizes and practice the 4Rs — reduce, reuse, recycle and rot (compost).

Through Tuesday, November 17, a series of free, hands-on workshops will be held at various Oakland Public Library branches to assist students in creating artwork for the competition. For a complete roster of workshops, please visit http://bit.ly/1jcnwb7. A public reception to recognize participants and contest winners will be held on Friday, December 4, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Pro Arts Gallery, 150 Frank H. Ogawa Plaza. The reused and recycled art competition is sponsored by the Public Works Department and produced by Pro Arts Gallery.
