The Peralta Community College District (PCCD) Board of Trustees is expected to vote tomorrow on a new contract with Knowledge Saves Lives (KSL) to conduct a districtwide “public safety feasibility study.”
The contract with KSL is in the amount of $42,775.00. These funds will go towards “Special Services for Public Safety and Security Administrative Consulting Services to Facilitate Stakeholder Engagement Regarding the Future of Campus Safety.”
If approved, KSL will be in charge of conducting surveys and interviews with students, members and staff of PCCD. They will collect data in order to recommend strategies to PCCD’s public safety department regarding the future of campus safety and security. The project is set to be completed by June 30.
According to Government Code Section 53060, the district is authorized to hire trained and experienced individuals to provide specialized administrative services and advice as needed.
KSL is specially trained, experienced, and competent to perform the administrative consulting services required to support the Public Safety Department,” according to the agenda item’s “Background/Analysis”.
In a previous board meeting that convened Mar. 28, 2023, a contract in the amount of $36,400.00 was approved for KSL services to consult on health, safety, and security. The contract is still ongoing, according to the agenda, although the contract lists a completion date of Sep. 30, 2023.
