‘Selma to Montgomery’ march exhibit now showing at the Laney Library

    Selma to Montgomery

In honor of Dr. King’s historic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama, the Laney College Library is featuring a retrospective of literature and images from that historic day in 1965. The exhibit includes curated books from library staff designed to highlight the issue of civil rights as a historical and contemporary issue.

There is also an accompanying exhibit showcasing and celebrating African American History through stamps, including information on Rosa Parks, Barbara Jordan and many others. The exhibits will run for the duration of Black History Month, or until the beginning of March.

“Selma” directed by Ava DuVernay was released to theatres January 9th. Seventh through ninth graders can show their student ID (for more information visit selmastudenttickets. com) to see ‘Selma’ for free at participating theatres.

    About the Contributor
In the fall of 2019, The Laney Tower rebranded as The Citizen and launched a new website. These stories were ported over from the old Laney Tower website, but byline metadata was lost in the port. However, many of these stories credit the authors in the text of the story. Some articles may also suffer from formatting issues. Future archival efforts may fix these issues.
